Dumpster Fire DEVO - Day 19

Day 19: Excuses and Self-Doubt
By Pastor Casey Taylor

Read: Exodus 4:10-13

Moses wasn’t shy about offering excuses to God. “I’m not eloquent,” he said. “I’m slow of speech.” He doubted his ability to fulfill God’s call, coming up with reason after reason why he wasn’t the right person for the job. But God wasn’t interested in Moses’s excuses. Instead, He reminded Moses that He would equip him, providing him the words and the help he needed to succeed.

Like Moses, we often feel inadequate when God asks us to do something that feels beyond our capabilities. But God doesn’t choose the equipped—He equips the chosen. Our excuses are no match for God’s provision and power.

REFLECT:
What excuses have you used to avoid stepping into God’s call? How can you rely more on God’s strength and less on your own abilities?

PRAY:
Father, I often feel inadequate and unprepared. Help me to set aside my excuses and trust that You will provide everything I need to follow Your call. Amen.
