On the Road Again - DAY 7

Day 7: Redefining Neighbor

Luke 10:29-32

In response to the Bible expert’s question, "Who is my neighbor?" Jesus tells the parable of the Good Samaritan. A man is attacked and left for dead. A priest and a Levite, both respected religious figures, see him but pass by without offering help. Their actions reveal a tendency to prioritize ritual purity or personal safety over compassion.

Jesus redefines the concept of neighbor. It’s not about proximity or shared identity but about our actions toward those in need. The religious figures in the parable missed the point, focusing on their own concerns rather than the immediate need before them.

REFLECT
How often do you pass by opportunities to help others because of fear, inconvenience, or other priorities? What can you do to be more attentive to the needs around you?

PRAY
Father, open my eyes to see the needs of those around me. Give me the courage to act with compassion, setting aside my fears and concerns to help others. Amen.
