Because of Easter DAY 7

Ephesians 1:3, 18-23

Because Jesus is alive and in charge, we have new power. Christians often talk about the forgiveness available to us through Jesus Christ. It’s true! We’re forgiven of our sins through Jesus. Forgiveness is like being picked up and dusted off after falling down.

But God also wants to help us fall down less. Through Jesus’ resurrection, we are given power to change and to live a new life. In his letter to the Ephesians, the apostle Paul says we’re blessed with every spiritual blessing. That means we already have the resources we need through the Holy Spirit to live a new life because of the risen Christ. In other words, we have power to overcome sin and defeat temptation.

How much power? Paul tells us exactly how strong God’s power is in one of the most incredible parts of the Bible. Ephesians 1:19-20 says, “That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead.” How much power does it take to bring the dead back to life? A lot! God’s resurrection power is available for you.

When facing temptation, do you feel powerless or powerful? Why?

Thank you, Father, for spiritual power to overcome sin. Come, Holy Spirit, and fill me up today with your resurrection power. Amen.
