The Way DAY 10 - Defeating Your Defeaters
DAY 10: Defeating Your Defeaters
Luke 4:1-13
In the face of temptation, Jesus stands firm. Using Scripture, he deflects the devil's attacks aimed at his identity. Despite being tempted, Jesus cannot sin but instead confronts lies with the truth of God's love, accepting His acceptance and defeating His defeaters.
A defeater, a belief holding up other beliefs, threatens to undermine one's core convictions. However, Jesus's unwavering belief in the Father's love remains unshaken. He wins in spiritual battle!
You, too, can overcome your defeaters by embracing your acceptance. Accepting your acceptance can revolutionize your life, countering the lies that undermine your worth. Recognize that you are enough, loved by God regardless of external standards. God is not your enemy. God is not out to get you.
If you can’t accept your acceptance, you’ll look for validation and approval in other ways. They’ll disappoint, maybe even damage you. But here you’ve got the ultimate validation, the ultimate approval, in Jesus Christ.
The simple but profound prayer from Sr. Macrina Wiederkehr shows what it looks like to rest in God’s love: “Oh God, help me to believe the truth about myself, no matter how beautiful it is.”
Guess what? When you’re full of God’s love for you, you’ll be more motivated and more empowered than ever to fight sin. When you’re full of God’s love for you, you’ll love God and love others. Accepting your acceptance is how you walk the Way of Jesus.
Are you filled with God's love? Embrace it daily, knowing God is not your adversary but your ally. Accept your acceptance, echoing the Father's declaration to Jesus: "You are my beloved child, in whom I am well pleased." Believe it, walk in it, and let it empower you.
