On the Road Again - DAY 1

DAY 1 - Road Trip!

Luke 9:51

What’s the longest road trip you’ve ever been on? I heard two wildly long trips on Sunday. One was about 6,000 miles and the other 5,000! Those are LONG trips!

Many Americans hit the road each summer between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Along the way, we see and hear a lot of familiar phrases: Don’t waste your money! Are we lost? Mind your own business! I was here first! I spy…, or I’m hungry!

We’re taking a road trip together this summer back into Luke’s Gospel because most of this book is a road trip. In Luke 9:51, Luke says, “Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem,” so his crew slowly wind their way there. Everything from this chapter until Jesus’s death is on the road to the holy city. This summer, we join Jesus on the road in Luke and learn how to navigate the road trip of life.

What’s your favorite road trip? What did you enjoy most about it?

Jesus, you call me to follow you on the road - the Way! I open my heart to you again. Guide me steps today and all summer long. Amen.
