Day 11: Learning to Pray

Luke 11:1

Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.”

This moment underscores the importance and attractiveness of Jesus' prayer life. Jesus prayed! We should never not be surprised by that! We should also never speed past Jesus praying. Luke makes a big deal out of Jesus’ prayer life.

Jesus’ disciples saw something in the way Jesus prayed that made them want to learn from him. We all have much to learn about prayer. Jesus’ willingness to teach his disciples reflects his gracious and inviting nature. He wants us to grow in our relationship with the Father through prayer.

Lord, teach me to pray. Help me to grow closer to You through prayer and to inspire others to seek You as well. Amen.
