On the Road Again - DAY 23

Day 23: Be Rich Toward God

Read Luke 12:21, 33

Jesus concludes His teaching by encouraging us to be "rich toward God." But what does that mean?

We need to look at the context of the passage. Jesus criticizes focusing all our resources on ourselves. In Luke 12:22-34, he praises using our resources on others. Luke 12:33 says, "Sell your possessions and give to the poor." Being rich toward God means giving - prioritizing generosity over accumulation.

Generosity guts greed and aligns our hearts with God’s. When we give, we open ourselves up to others, breaking the grip of greed and selfishness. It’s about caring for those in need and using our resources to advance God’s kingdom.

REFLECT
How can you be more generous with your time and resources? What steps can you take to be rich toward God?

PRAY
Lord, teach me to be generous and rich toward You. Help me to use my resources to bless others and advance Your kingdom. Amen.
