Revelation Day 50 - Renew Your Vows
DAY 50
Renew Your Vows
John 21:15-22
Breakup with Babylon and quit compromised Christianity. From time to time, we need in-your-face confrontations like Revelation that question our commitment. From time to time, we need to renew our vows to King Jesus. The fact is, every Christian has compromised their faith at some point. All of us have cheated on God, all of us have been unfaithful, in big ways and small ways.
One of the most famous stories of a believer being unfaithful to Jesus is Simon Peter. Peter, leader of the Twelve Apostles, swore he’d never betray Jesus. But just like Jesus predicted, he denied three times even knowing Jesus. Jesus restored Peter after Easter, which we read about in John 21. Three times Peter denied Jesus, three times Jesus asked him, “Do you love me?” Peter recommitted himself to his Lord.
The good news is this: Jesus Christ is the truly Faithful One. His faithfulness saves the unfaithful who trust him. Jesus’s faithfulness covered Peter’s unfaithfulness.
Today might be the day to renew your vows to King Jesus - or commit to him for the first time. No matter how unfaithful you’ve been, you can have a fresh start and breakup with Babylon. Jesus’ faithfulness covers your unfaithfulness if you’ll trust yourself to him.
This is the gospel. God created us to be with him. Our sins separate us from God. Sins cannot be removed by good deeds. Paying the price for our sins, Jesus died and rose again. Everyone who believes in him has eternal life. Life with Jesus starts now and lasts forever. That’s the gospel, the good news.
Breakup with Babylon and renew your vows to Jesus today.
REFLECT
Have you compromised your faith in Christ? Do you need to recommit yourself?
PRAYER
Lord Jesus Christ, I’m sorry for my sin. I’m sorry for my selfishness. Forgive me. Thank you for being faithful. Thank you for saving me. You are my lord. You are my savior. Fill me up with your Holy Spirit so I can be your wholehearted follower. Amen.
