Day 55: Accountable Community

Read: Luke 17:21-22

Step back and think about what’s happening in this passage. The Pharisees ask a question and Jesus’s disciples get a lecture. Why? Because they’re teachable. They’re connected to Jesus in a way the Pharisees are not. They’re committed to Jesus and accountable to Jesus. Jesus warns them because he cares.

A second set of eyes makes sure you don’t miss anything. We need each other because we can’t go on with business as usual after committing to Jesus. He expects positive life change - transformation. I need your help to see where God is cheering me on and where God is reigning me in. You need that, too. That’s why I’m such a big believer in Life Groups. That’s where accountable community grows. Accountable community helps us not to crave tomorrow so much that you miss what God’s doing today.

REFLECT: Are you connected to a community that helps you stay accountable in your faith? How can you lean into these relationships more deeply?

PRAY: Lord, thank You for the gift of community. Help me to be open to accountability and to grow in my faith through the support and encouragement of others. Amen.
