Luke 24:13-35

Jesus has been crucified and two are walking to Emmaus from Jerusalem. They were talking together about what had happened.

A stranger comes and begins walking with them telling him, “We had hoped he was the one.” They had no idea who was walking along side them.

The stranger shares the scriptures as they journey and their hearts were stirred by the stranger. When they came to a place the stranger would be going on they ask him to please come stay with them and he does. It was at the table when Jesus breaks the bread, their eyes were opened.

They didn’t wait, in the night they, “33 They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled together 34 and saying, “It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon.” 35 Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread.

When is Jesus walking beside us in the face of a stranger?

When will we recognize Jesus in the faces around us?

Will we be stirred by the scriptures and in the fellowship?

What will we do with the good news once our eyes are open?

Where are we looking for Jesus? In all the predictable places?
